Current UMD students who are interested in applying to the Honors College have several options.
First-year students:
Current students who have completed one year of coursework at the University of Maryland can apply to join the Honors College. Admission for current UMD students is highly competitive and the number of spaces available is extremely limited. A minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5 is required to apply. The application to join the Honors College for Fall 2022 can be found here. The application is open until August 3, 2022.
Applications will be reviewed starting August 1. No decisions will be released until the middle of August. Invitation to the Honors Colleg is based on available space in our living-learning programs. Space for Fall 2022 is extremely limited.
First-year students enrolled in College Park Scholars, CIVICUS, Global Communities and FIRE are eligible to apply to the Honors College. If admitted, students must withdraw from those programs to join the Honors College.
Sophomores or juniors:
Students should consider applying to a departmental honors program in their major or college. Please review the entrance and academic requirements for the departmental honors program in their major for more information.
Students interested in cybersecurity should consider applying to the ACES Minor in Cybersecurity. The application is available every fall and spring semester.
